I need help in trying to find an alternative spot for the COMPLETE VIN of a 1970 Challenger RT. Someone took the dash tag, door tag, fender tag, build sheet. The last part of the VIN is visible on the radiator support. Is there any other place where this car could have a complete VIN number? Help!!!!!!!! Thanks!

I''m sorry to say that I will be of little help. That is the usual places that they are found. Also under the bottom of the original back seat. Do you have the Title? Good luck on your search and I hope someone will respond with an optional place to look.

What are you hopeing to do? With the vin tag gone all you can do is get a state issued title for it. With a builders vin number.

Thank you for your help. Well, I just want to figure out what the car had in it originally. Just got off the phone with the previous owner and he does not have the title nor does he know the vin. The car had a 440 in it when he let it go back in 1983. I would also like to title the car in case I choose to sell it. Chances are that I will sell it because I am moving to Germany for three years. I am trying to run a history check with the DMV and they said they could help me out. What I am going to do is have them do a archives search with several different VIN options: 383, 440, 440+6, 426. Got any other suggestions?

Look in the back of the bucket seats for another build sheet. Also try the Hamtramck historical web site run by Barry Washington. There is a extensive list of VIN #s. perhaps you could match your last 6 digits.

The last 6 numbers are also located on the top of the firewall on the drivers side. IF those numbers match the ones on the right side of the engine then you know it is the orginal motor. The number should be on the transmission too.

Besides the back seat sometimes the build sheet can be up behind the dash in the glove box area or under the center console. These are some places I have found the Build sheet to be. GOOD LUCK!
