Ok, here goes...my lease ended on my 06 Charger R/T with the 5.7 Hemi...the dealership my husband works at buys the car. They take the custom pinstriping off, the window vents and glue a cheap looking aftermarket hood scope on the hood. 2 days later a couple come in and buy it for 21k for their sons 16th birthday present????? Should I start a poll to see how long before we see on the local news my last baby (the Charger) wrapped around a pole? I don''t mean to offend anyone on here...but come on! Common sense...and memories of my 1st car tell me...don''t give a 16 year old a Hemi!

I can tell you that when I was that age, I would have done anything to have a hemi. Instead, I ended up with a honda accord.[:''(] But, I do think a hemi is not the best choice for first time drivers. You never know what kind of driver''s they''ll be.

Buy them an old Challenger with a 318 as a project and build it with them so they can appreciate these cars more.

Right on Jeremiah... thats the direction I am thinking for my boys... for a number of what I would consider "healthy" reasons.

Thats a great idea Brother J. My friend did it with his son with a 69 VW Bug. I have to admit as much as I love to read about cars, and most especially THE CAR, I couldnt touch one of these things. I do learn a lot from you all. So back to giving them a 318. Now thats a motor I could enjoy breaking down and doing it with my son all the better.

I recently saw on TV a story about a teen girl who stole her dad''s Porsche. She sped on the freeway and crashed into something. Her head was severed from her body. Pictures of her dead body ended up on rotten.com.

My first car was a pea green 71 dodge dart swinger with the 225 slant 6. Didnt get any speeding tickets in it, but it was great at running stop signs.
