If you don''''t mind experiencing knock and possible engine failure, which will be detectable during tear down so no warranty, then run that regular gas. Come on man you got a muscle car now you worried about a few pennies for gas?[:''''(]
SRT8''s must run 91..

well it''s not really that....obviously if 100 people chimed in and said 87 works great and they cant tell any differences, I''d be a fool to pay for 89.....but 89 is not always availible(sold out...up north in hickville) so it was basically just the thought of, if I HAVE to use 87....is it gonna be a mistake....

The knock sensor will cut timing as it detects knock. So it will run on 87 but your performance will be less than optimal. Manufacturer suggests 89 as the ideal octain. 87 will work but performance will be less.

Well... you can use 87 or 89 Octane, but why not just put 91 Octane and get most out of your engine performance. I may use 89 Octane on a long road trip or if that is the only one I can choose. nothing but 91 Octane for me, cost about 10-cent more, why not.

I have HAD to use 87 in my 300C once and it did not like it at all. In fact, I worried about it and ended up adding 91 as soon as I could to "even out" what was left in my tank. This could have been unique to my car, but my advice would be to stick to 89 and know you can get away w/ 87 if you need to.
I''ve heard both stories, some people including my mechanic say that Super will give you better mileage and others say it burns away faster. Some say that 87 is more wasteful since the fuel isn''t as efficient as Super.
I wish we some solid proof and tests so we know who to believe. I guess if you run the mid-grade 89 then your basses are covered.........hehe
keep in mind new engines are designed for certain octanes tho. Old cars would benefit from 92, but using it in the Chally 5.7 might be worthless.
